Installation Movements

Relevant Statutes:

  • HSE Operations Notice 6
  • Offshore Installations (Prevention of Fire and Explosion, and Emergency Response) Regulations 1995, Reg 11 [PFEER]

Prior to an installation moving into UK waters or moving from one location to another the operator of a licence or the owner of an installation if no licence is involved is required to telex a list of standard addressees using a standard format.

  • Telex reports are required
  • at least 48 hours before commencing a move to enter UK waters
  • at least 48 hours before commencing a move from one location to another
  • when an installation being established arrives at its intended location
  • when a precise location has been established at the new location
  • when the installation has left UK waters

Reports are to be sent to:

  • HSE
  • MOD - two addresses
  • Coastguard
  • The Chief Constable with the responsibility for the installation

The information to be put in the telex is:

  • Originator' reference and date/time of despatch
  • Installation - name, registered owner and HSE registration number
  • Operator for move - name, UK address, telex and telephone number
  • Planned and actual location installation is moving from/to - geographical co-ordinates,
  • well registration number and target ref.
  • Dates and times of move
  • Work to be carried out at new location, well number if applicable.
  • Installations within 500 metres of new location and any connection to that installation
  • Supplementary information.
