Operational Information

Monitoring of environmental conditions offshore is vital. Environmental conditions can effect many operations such as;

  • the ability to implement emergency plans
  • helicopter operations
  • loading or unloading etc.

The Duty Holder is required to collect and where appropriate record such information needed for the safe operation of the installation and the safety of persons on or near the installation. Information could include;:

  • wind speed and direction
  • the sea state
  • air temperature
  • barometric pressure
  • visibility, cloud base and cover and for floating installations
  • the roll, pitch heave, yaw and heading of the installation.

This information need only be recorded if required for later use.
